Pressure
Today was a rough ride. We started out with a flat (me, valve stem tear, front tire) and Mike's saddle began to cause him some trouble early in the day. He made a few changes to the saddle at various breaks and muscled through it. We're hoping for a more comfortable ride tomorrow.
We had lunch outside a grocery store like all normal tourists. Winn Dixie (grocery store chain) sells these individual pies for 75 cents. You can't beat it. We bought an apple pie, a peach pie, and a pecan pie. As I write, only the peach pie remains. Lunch was great.
As we rode along the coast beyond Daytona Beach we came across a brush fire. It looked like a controlled burn. There were plenty of firefighters monitoring it and we continued northward to our lodgings for the night.
Tonight we're staying with Brian and his family in their lovely home. We enjoyed dinner on their dock overlooking the intracoastal waterway. I have been watching out for manatees for most of our trip and tonight continued to disappoint me with 0 manatees observed. I butchered "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone" into a version titled "Ain't no manatees, they're all gone". Mike found it funny. Our manatee-viewing window is coming to a close. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Tomorrow we're heading to St Augustine. We may go further or we may stop for an afternoon of exploring. We shall see...

Do you see any? |
Remember that the valve stem nut only needs to be "finger tight". That might help. On the other hand, with that much weight on the bike, maybe some flats are unavoidable.
ReplyDeleteI loves me a pie. And at only 75 cents apiece, that's even better!
I hope a manatee comes a calling.
Tell Mike to keep a stiff upper, hmmm....., cheek?
Saw Grandma Corinne yesterday. She is following along. Tried to leave a message from her but her tablet was a bit hard to figure out. At any rate, she wishes all the best and wants you to be safe.
Wow! A four pie lunch. Sounds like spirits are good, keep on the Dad tradition of butchering good songs. Pete
ReplyDeleteDont’ eat Pies, then you’ll weigh less then you’ll get less flats (or did I miss something?) love Deb
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, but Mike do you need a beard trim? When we try to get Grandpa to shave he tells us he going for the young look like Mike.
